TOPIC: The Coffee Industry & Working Abroad
Jeff Lewis will talk with us about his long-term career in the coffee industry in Papua New Guinea, the difficulties of working in a different culture, and how that industry has evolved in that time.
SPEAKER BIO - JEFFREY LEWIS:
Jeff has worked in the Coffee industry in Papua New Guinea for the past 43 years. During this time he has been involved in all aspects of the coffee industry from growing through to exporting, e.g. growing, buying, processing, small holder development and sustainability.
Jeff and his wife Vivienne, together with their 2 children lived on Coffee Plantations in the Eastern Highlands (Korfena Plantation and later Kamaliki Plantation), from 1979 through to 1996. Vivienne moved to Brisbane, Australia in 1997 due to the education requirements of their 2 children.
Jeff currently works as the Production/Sustainability Manager for PNG Coffee Exports Ltd, based in Goroka in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, and travels home to his family in Brisbane as often as possible.
