Negotiation Skills Workshop

Outline

Negotiation is an essential skill for success today. Well-developed negotiation skills are important for establishing and maintaining high-value working relationships externally (with clients and suppliers) and internally (with partners, staff, colleagues other departments and stakeholders).

This program introduces the knowledge, skills and strategies required to competently assess, prepare for and conduct a negotiation.  This model of negotiation looks beyond tradition positional bargaining to identifying and maximising the ‘value in the deal’.  ‘Win-win’ is a cliché that is spoken about more in negotiation than it is achieved.  This model shows how to give all parties the best chance of reaching a mutually-beneficial agreement.

Outcomes

In this workshop, participants will learn:

• The essence and intent of mutually-beneficial negotiation (win-win versus zero-sum negotiating)

• The skills and insights necessary to create genuine value in the deal – giving each party the opportunity to walk away satisfied

• The key issues to address at each phase of the negotiation process

• Negotiation tactics and counter-tactics (including what to do when the other party does not ‘play by the rules’)

• Emotionally intelligent negotiation

Every participant will receive a comprehensive workshop manual that will also serve as a valuable ongoing resource.

Your Workshop Leader

Twenty years of speaking experience combines with thirty years in management to give Kevin Ryan impressive credibility on his topic.  A prodigious author (10 books), he incorporates leading-edge thinking with practical strategies in lively, entertaining seminars and workshops.

He speaks at conferences and seminars across Australia, New Zealand and Asia specialising in the areas of negotiation skills, business communication, humour in business and presentation skills. His clients include small to medium size enterprises, government departments and large corporations such as Microsoft, Helwett Packard, Carlton & United, Standard Chartered Bank, Allianz, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Lend Lease, Motorola and Oxfam.  

He has conducted negotiation workshops and seminars for business owners, managers and senior executives from widely diverse cultural backgrounds.  In the last ten years he has run these in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

Kevin is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) which is the highest designation for a professional speaker and trainer and held by only 900 world-wide.  He is Past National President of Professional Speakers Australia and winner of the Nevin Award – PSA’s highest honour for his contribution to the speaking profession.  He has been inducted into the Australian Speaker’s Hall of Fame.
